“Come to Baths” Re-creation

Tomorrow afternoon you can watch a delightful re-creation of a beach in the early 20th century.

The different modes of being on the beach will be staged, where tens of characters, together with the bathers dressed to precept for the time, frequented the beaches of yore: water, lupines, candy, and turn-winds sellers; “à la minuta” photographer; the usual theater companies of “robertos”, and contortionists. Also re-created, the fun games people occupied their time with, many of which present still to this day: “cabra-cega”, “salto ao eixo”, “tétulas” (with pebbles), “prego”, sand castles and kite releases. The nobles, people who belonged to a rich bourgeois, dedicated themselves to more tranquil activities and so you will see them sitting and conversing, walking, reading or even painting. Even at the time of the bath, where they followed medical prescriptions, the characters are distinguished: some, with a great fuss, raise their skirts or pants, others, dressed to precept, put themselves in the hands of the professional bather, who will give them as many dives as recommended by the doctors, who in turn knew well the therapeutic benefits of sea baths.

Tonight there will also be an evening dedicated to the theme, with music moments of the time, villains and nobles' fashion show, theater, and swimsuits' parade from the 1900s.
